Skeinshot privacy policy

Effective October 11, 2026

Skeinshot turns your photos into cross-stitch patterns inside your own browser. Your photos never leave your device. There are no accounts, and we never sell or share your personal information.

Who we are

Skeinshot is an independent business based in Ontario, Canada. This policy covers the Skeinshot website, Skeinshot Pro, the offline Pro file, and the Skeinshot and Skeinshot Pro apps on Google Play. For any privacy question or request, email help@skeinshot.com.

What stays on your device

• Photos you choose are processed by your browser. They are never uploaded to us or to anyone else.
• Your patterns, stitching progress, stats, saved links, the list of threads you own, your shop details and your settings are saved in your browser's storage on this device so they're there next time. Clearing your browser data deletes them, so use Back up everything in Settings to keep a copy.
• PDF and OXS charts you import are read by your browser. They are never uploaded to us or to anyone else.
• Links you save, including ones you share into the installed app from another app, stay on this device. We never see them.
• Project files you save go wherever you choose to save them. We never receive them.
• When you install Skeinshot as an app, it stores a copy of its own pages so it works offline. That copy holds no personal information.

What we receive, and why

• When you buy Pro on Gumroad. Gumroad handles the payment and shares your name, email address and order details with us. We never see your card number. We use this to deliver Pro, answer support requests, process refunds and keep the sales records tax law requires. Gumroad's privacy policy covers what Gumroad does with your information.
• When you buy through Google Play. Google handles the payment and shares limited order details with us. Google's privacy policy applies to what Google collects.
• When you email us. We receive your email address and message, and use them only to reply.

Services involved when you visit

• Cloudflare hosts the website. Like any web host, it processes technical details such as your IP address and browser type in order to deliver the pages.
• Google Fonts supplies the typefaces. Your browser downloads them from Google's servers, which receive your IP address and browser details.

What we don't do

• No advertising, and no tracking across other websites.
• No selling, renting or trading of personal information.
• No cookies for tracking. The only things Skeinshot stores in your browser are the patterns, progress, links and settings described above.

Emails

We email buyers about their purchase and about Skeinshot updates, and send newsletters only to people who signed up for them. Every email says who it's from and has a working unsubscribe link, and we act on unsubscribe requests within 10 business days.

Keeping information safe

The buyer details we hold stay inside our Gumroad, Google Play Console and email accounts. Those accounts are protected with strong, unique passwords and two-step sign-in, and we don't copy buyer details anywhere else.

How long we keep it

• Purchase records: six years after the end of the tax year they relate to, as the Canada Revenue Agency requires.
• Support emails: up to two years after our last message with you.
• Data on your device: until you delete it or clear your browser data.

Your choices

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete anything we aren't required to keep for tax records. Email help@skeinshot.com and we'll reply within 30 days. If you're not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Children

Skeinshot isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes

When this policy changes, we'll update the effective date at the top. For significant changes, we'll also put a note on the website.
